Official: talents reset with 3.0.2
I’ve got a special report in hand from the department of obvious news: we will all get a talent refund when patch 3.0.2 hits, still expected to be next week (four days). Just like the big pre-BC patch, 3.0.2 (“Echoes of Doom“) will give us access to the new talents that we will be enjoying in Wrath of the Lich King, as well as (for many classes) new skills. And since the talent trees are so drastically changed, they probably couldn’t let us keep our current specs in many cases even if they wanted to.
Obviously we won’t be able to access the level 75 and 80 skills until we jet off to Northrend and get some leveling in, but a lot of skills have been retconned in, so to speak. Here are a few examples of new tricks you’ll learn from your class trainers, listed with what class they’re for and at what level you can learn them.
· Dismantle (Rogue, level 20). This one quite honestly looks overpowered to me (speaking as someone who plays a Rogue), but we’ll see.
· Revive (Druid, level 12). Thank the maker; this has been a long time coming.
· New icon for Sentry Totem (Shaman) (not really).
There are more where those came from. And that’s quite

Engineering Schemata Ideas
I’m sure people are getting sick of the Engineering threads; but a lot of them are complaints and I know something Blizzard wants is well-written feedback. This thread is not for whining, but for putting together ideas to rectify the problem. Engineering is a creative profession, most likely one of the reasons it is so under-developed, as it takes time to come up with good ideas that aren’t gobbled up by the Trading Card Game. So, let’s offer our collective minds to give as many unique, fun, crazy, useful, and wacky ideas, that can only be described as an Engineering item.
First of all, I would love to fully endorse the idea presented in this thread: This is a great way to keep Engineering as the profession where you need a ton of parts and a lot of dedication, as well as offer us countless more recipes.
Upgrades.
Firstly, there are many old favorites that could easily be brought back in a newer form.
- Practice Lock – I’m sure rogues, engineers or not, would be grateful for higher level Practice Locks to work up their lockpicking skill. Perhaps they can even have a few nuts and bolts, even a recipe, inside.
- Deflectors/Reflectors - Higher level versions of the elemental reflectors would be highly sought after.

Not sure if this has been suggested already, but since everyone seems to want a replacement for the backpack. how about adding a tailoring pattern similar to the new blacksmithing gem slots that will allow you to add pockets/more slots onto the existing backpack? Could have different size one available for different levels of tailoring as well. could even add specialty ones for profession mats or reagents for spells. just an idea.
My guess would be that they’ve not done anything with the backpack because it would require some significant development time vs. just adding larger bags.
IMO, the larger bags suffice for storage addition. They’ve really been quite generous with storage space, IMO
Addition of the key ring
Larger bags
Specialized bags that are even bigger
removal of pets & mounts from the inventory
addition of more bag slots in the bank
Guild banks
Yea, I think the storage space isn’t something that they’ve neglected or need to improve on. Putting developers on something like this is a waste of time & money.

Pattern drops on token system
The new system of having raids drop unique tokens for each level is a great idea. Having a few pieces to pick up from the badge vendor means your not so dependent on the RNG game.
I would like to see it taken a step farther. The gear that professions make from raids should be put on this system. Instead of random pattern drops please let us save up badges and just buy what we need. The engineering goggles jc trinkets alchemy trinkets all the gear from tailor, bs, lw, and raid drop enchants.
The new JC system in great and should be passed to other professions this is the perfect way to do it. People roll these professions to help their character yet many are wasting their time because theat certain best in slot plan might never drop for them.
I know I never saw my blasting boots or any of the tailoring sunwell drops on my lock.
edit: by plans I mean the upgrades that will be released with new raids that will replace those best in slot items our professions make.

Patch 3.0.2: Echoes of Doom
From the North, a cold wind blows, and brings with it Echoes of Doom. A king is ready, after all these years, to return to his people…
Blizzard has named the last content patch before Wrath of the Lich King — it’s “Echoes of Doom.” They’ve created a page for patch 3.0.2 in their Under Development section, and all of the features we’ve become familiar with over the past few months — from Inscription to two new Arenas (no mention yet of the new battleground, unless they just meant Wintergrasp) and lots of UI modifications — are listed right there as ready to go in with the new patch.
The page still seems like a placeholder, though, so expect to see it changed over the next two weeks or so — we’ll see more detailed patch notes, of course, near release, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see some information about the World Event that will likely kick off Wrath. “Echoes of Doom” — are you excited?

Interesting items in the data files
I’ve been looking through the Wowhead latest additions page, and found some interesting-looking things. Caveat: some of these are probably datamined, we may never see them in game, etc. Still, it’s fun to look at.
· Intravenous Healing Potion. This does the same thing as Mage-summoned Conjured Mana Strudel (except for the whole group), and shares a cooldown with food. Despite the name, I’d say this is not meant to be used in combat. And based on the medical-themed name, I’d say it’s probably going to be created via First Aid.
· Wintergrasp Commendation. Apparently bought with marks from Wintergrasp; the interesting thing here, of course, is that these are bind to account (BtA), so you can effectively PvP on one character and send honor to another. Does this open the door for my much-coveted BtA badge-type tokens? I hope so.
· Ghostly Skull. This small pet is apparently sold in Dalaran for 40g, and it looks awesome, in my opinion (see screenshot above — the skull is in the top-left corner). I will be getting one as soon as possible on my DK. Tacky? Maybe. But I don’t care.
I like that Blizzard is going in a lot of different directions in LK;

Breakfast Topic: What glyphs would you like to see for your class?
We don’t know a ton about the specifics of Inscription and the Glyphs it supplies since the Wrath beta doesn’t have very many of them yet, but we at least know what they are. If you don’t know what they are, glyphs are almost like enchantments, but for your spells instead of your armor and weapons. Their effects are usually a little more substantial, even if they don’t change combat very much. You’re allowed up to six glyphs, split amongst the varying strengths of glyphs in a configuration that may or may not be the same come retail.
We got a litlte preview of glyphs via some Druid glyphs that were posted on MMO Champion a few days ago, and they do some pretty neat things. Things like “your Swipe ability now hits 1 additional target” and “changes the appearance of your bear and dire bear forms to that of a polar bear” are both pretty big effects! That’s only really the beginning of them, too.
Pulling a little inspiration from our friend Matticus, why don’t we take a minute and make a few guesses at what types of glyphs our classes will get? Heck, even if it’s unlikely we’ll get it, what type of glyph would you like to get? Personally,

8962, professionally speaking
There were a lot of profession changes in the latest LK beta build (8962). You’ve already seen what Inscription got, and if you’re anything like me, you’ve salivated over the new Engineered motorcycles. But what else in this build is particularly interesting, for the other professions?
· Tailoring got some new flying carpets added, though I’m pretty sure the Ebonweave/Mooncloth/Spellfire are just cosmetic variants. No word yet on what they look like.
· Leatherworking got a ton of new BoE epics and blues. It looks like they’re really trying to make it profitable to be a leatherworker, which will be nice to see.
· Each of the armor-crafting professions (tailoring, LW, blacksmithing) got some high-stamina frost-resist sets. Previously, similar (and similarly-named) sets were used for the Sapphiron fight in the old Naxxramas; I wonder if something similar will be going on in the new Naxx. I hope not, because kitting out your whole raid for one fight is an annoying gimmick.
· A few of the professions got recipes specifically to help them discover more recipes, like Northrend Alchemy Research and Northrend Inscription Research. An interesting

Lichborne: Guys and Ghouls
Welcome to Lichborne, where we ask the tough questions: Will Death Knights be ready for launch? Will they really have 3 trees that can tank and DPS? And what kind of a ghoul name is Eyeslobber?
Ghouls have been one of my most beloved features of the Death Knight for some now. I like having an undead squire by my side, and they can be pretty useful for some extra dps and even some lifesaving interference in a pinch. However, they also felt like one of the least firmed up aspects of a Death Knight for some time now, with abilities coming and going on a patchly basis, and bugs that kept the ghoul from being summoned or allowed to summon a massive army of ghouls in no time flat.
Still, they have their uses, and despite still being incredibly flimsy healthwise, do offer a decent amount of extra damage when they’re up. The drawback is that 50 silver is a lot for a pet that lasts less than 5 minutes, and without points in the Unholy tree, the Ghoul is completely uncontrollable, and may have a tendency to run into suicidal situations without listening to a word you say.
As far as perfecting the Ghoul and deciding on its place in the class, there seems to be two schools of thought. The first, mostly made of Unholy specced Death Knights, sees the Ghoul
